Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU) is a public university located at Srinagar, Uttarakhand, India. It is formerly known as Garhwal University. It was set up on 1 December 1973 as Garhwal University and in 1989, it renamed as Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. It is located on the banks of the river Alaknanda in the mid-Himalayas. In 2009, it became a Central University.
